Is This a Good Time to Buy?

Is this a good time to purchase property in San Diego, America’s finest city?  Before taking a look at an area with one of the best buys in the city, let me give a recap of the number reason San Diego is one of the most desirable places in the world to live.  San Diego has over 300 days of sunshine a year with an average temperature of 70 degrees and miles of rugged coastline. With home prices well below historic highs, in 2010 first-time home buyers took advantage of home affordability with 46% of home purchases being made by them.

The young new trend setters realize there are some incredible opportunities in the housing market. Even though government incentives are a thing of the past, the housing market is moving closer to stabilization.  Interest rates are at an all time low and home prices in some areas are the lowest they have been in nearly a decade. One of the hottest areas in San Diego to purchase or visit is trendy, Little Italy.

There are numerous high rise condos within walking distance to Little Italy Mercato, the Saturday morning Farmers Market at Date and India Streets.  From 9:30 am to 1:pm more than 100 booths line the streets offering plenty of fresh produce, coffee, smoothies, specialty foods and of course live music.  Just around the corner on India Street, the main road in Little Italy, aroma of authentic Italian food, freshly baked gourmet deserts, or freshly ground coffee could be coming from any number of Little Italy’s out-door cafes, restaurants, pubs, or specialty dessert shops. Year round, this amazing urban hot spot jumps with activity.  But if you prefer an occasional bit of solace, within walking distance is the calm of the harbor.

Have you been to the upscale Farmers Market or to Little Italy yet? Let us know what you think.
